Description
Ovipast Plus us used for the active immunisation of sheep as an aid in the control of pasteurellosis caused by M. haemolytica and P. trehalosi. The vaccine may be used in sheep of all ages from a minimum age of 3 weeks and in the control of systemic pasteurellosis in weaned fattening and breeding sheep.
The vaccine may be used in pregnant ewes as an aid in the control of pasteurellosis in their lambs provided that the lambs receive sufficient immune colostrum during the first 1-2 days of life.
Administration:
Subcutaenous injection into the lateral side of the upper neck.
Primary vaccination: two 2ml injections 4-6 weeks apart
Re vaccination: at an interval of no more than 12 months after the primary vaccination course. In adult breeding ewes this needs to be given 4-6 weeks before lambing to protect the lambs
On farms where the incidence of pasteurellosis is high, a supplementary booster vaccination may be needed 2-3 weeks before expected seasonal outbreaks.
Onset of immunity:
2 weeks after the second dose of the primary vaccination course.
Duration of immunity:
Active immunity: for up to 1 year in vaccinated ewes
Passive immunity: 4 weeks after birth in lambs from vaccinated ewes
Use during pregnancy and lactation:
Can be used during pregnancy in ewes as an aid in the control of pasteurellosis in their lambs. However, the lambs must receive sufficient immune colostrum during the first 1-2 days of life.
